High Blood Pressure - The Silent Killer

High blood pressure which is also known as hypertension is what we call a high pressure in the arteries. Arteries are the vessels which channel blood to the rest part of the body from heart. It is like a part way that distributes the flow of blood directly from the heart.

Normally, blood pressure readings are always given in two numbers. The number at the top is called systolic blood pressure while the one below is called diastolic pressure. 

Systolic pressure is equal to the pressure in the arteries when heart contracts or squeezes together.

Diastolic pressure is the one that occurs when the heart relaxes from the contraction.

Your blood pressure is normal when it is below 120/80.

When it is between 120/80 and 139/89, then it is termed a 'pre-hypertension'

Now, when blood pressure shoots to 140/90 and above, it is considered to be high.

You should also note that when your systolic blood pressure (The upper number) is between 90 and 100, you are considered t be having a low blood pressure. Low blood pressure is a topic for another day though.

What Are The Complications Of High Blood Pressure

• High blood pressure can be genetic and this occur in people who have both or one of their parents with an history of hypertension. 
• Salt sensitivity of high salt intake: This can be seen in some people who are having kidney or renal problems and in some cases obese people. If your salt intake is high, you have to cut it and be very careful.
• Arteries abnormality: In some people, abnormality of arteries cause stiffness in the arterioles. This also occur in people who are too fat or obese, older and people who do not exercise. 

Blood pressure accounts for many health problems especially in adults and it is mostly traced to what we eat and in some cases, less physical activities. 

What are the ways to prevent or be freed of this silent killer?

Very simple, stay away from the known causes and if you already have it, try correcting it with a good diet combined with supplements which will naturally put your system back into its best state.
